  1. I would just like to remind everyone to keep a civil tone in this thread. Opinions are fine as long as they are stated respectfully. If this thread becomes a flamefest, it willbe locked down.
  2. I added 70lbs of dry rock to my existing 75g with no ill effects. As Mark said, you will eventually get a diatom bloom but that is good, the white was too blinding.
  3. Very nice! Low light shots are always hard for me to do.
  4. Congrats to luckylou for winning the Jan. photo contest!

  5. Some pictures. Just born: Big sister coming to visit: Snoozing away:
  6. Didn't look like my picture didn't attach. Will have to try again when I get home.
  7. We are happy to announce a future ARC member, Jacob Taren! He arrived early Friday morning weighing in at 7.5 pounds. Both mom and kiddo are doing great.
  8. Moving this to the For Sale/Trade section.
  9. The rock towers are a cool idea. Will definitely like to see this become a reality!
  10. I changed it so it was an actual poll. And my vote is actually the first two. I have them in my fuge, and have tossed a few peppermints back there before, but the anemones remain. I am not really worried about them. I see one appear in my main display from time to time, but I have some peppermints in there that normally deal with it.
  11. Sweet looking tank! I personally like the first rock layout you had in a semi-circle.
  12. I have hermits in my tank with a clam, and they leave it alone. Granted, I only have a few blue hermits and one Halloween in a 75g tank. So the competition for food between them is low.
  13. RCA had a sea robin in at one time I think.
  14. I think that should be sufficient lighting to maintain a lot of corals. I use 2x 150W MH over my standard 75g. Any corals that need a lot of light could always be placed higher in the tank. (And welcome aboard!!)
  15. Don't forget to vote for the pic-of-the-month!

    No Heater

Do some searches on "heater", this debate has come up many a times. I am now in the "no heater" camp. I had one go haywire on me, so I took it out and never put it back in my 75g. And I have not put one in since (I would have to look when I actually took it out, but feels like about 1.5 years ago). I haven't checked my temp in quite a while, but everything is thriving very well. I think you are on the right track by taking queues from how your tank is actually behaving.
  18. Not sure it is relevant anymore, as the article is over 2 years old. A flag went up when it said the LED market had stalled ... and I was like what?? That is all I see now
  19. Come one Mark... we want people to come to the meetings, not scare them away!
