  1. Voting ends on May 31st at midnight. See the full sized pictures here: http://www.austinreefclub.com/gallery/album/444-may-12/
  2. Thanks folks! Had a good day doing some hiking in northern Michigan.
  3. I am not the only spotter. More than half the staff lives north of the river.
  4. I was out and about today in Buda... I also know there should be a few on the Oak Hill area that I might see...
  5. Think this has run it's course. Moving to the archives.

    Foxy

    Very vibrant colors!
  7. Most fighting conchs also like cyno ... another benefit.
  8. The category for April is: Fish. Show us your best shots of one or more fish. Please note the new rules: Picture must be taken by you. One entry per person. Picture must be of fish in a fish tank or ocean. (New) You may only win once per calendar year. Thus if you win a photo contest in 2012, you will not be able to enter any future contests for the year. We feel this gives everyone a chance in the contests throughout the year. Submit your photos to the following gallery: http://www.austinreefclub.com/gallery/album/444-may-12/ Submissions close at midnight May 15th. Winner receives a $25 Elegant Reef gift certificate!
  9. Nobody was spotted in April But a lot of stickers went out near the end of April, so chances are better in May!
  10. Starting a thread for vehicles spotted during May 2012 with an ARC vinyl sticker on it. Lots of stickers have gone out with memberships and at meetings... time to start seeing them on the road Remember you need a picture posted in this thread first! And the official rules: You must post a picture in the info thread showing the ARC vinyl sticker on your vehicle. The picture must clearly show the sticker, make, model, and color of the vehicle. Please blur out the license plate if it is included in the picture. Only ARC staff members are qualified to "spot" a vehicle. Official ARC meetings, gatherings, trips, etc are not eligible for a vehicle to be "spotted" (come on, that would be too easy!). One entry per person for a given month. You may only win once per calendar year. ARC reserves the right to modify the contest rules and what-not at any time. The random winner of this month wins a $25 gift certificate to Air/Water/Ice!
  11. Not going to be able to make it to this one. My daughter has a dance recital that same day.
  12. Congrats to ludakris for winning the April photo contest!

  13. Final day to cast your vote for the Pic-o-Month contest!

  14. Good to know. In the 6 years at this place, only I have been stung once. Our one dog is good about scouting them out. If we see her following something on the floor, it most likely is a scorpion.
  15. Yeah, the dangers down here. I had one get me when I brushed up against a chair in the house. (Which reminds me, might be time to get the pest guy out here.. I have killed 2 in the house so far this year)
  16. No offense but I don't think it's appropriate to go down this path. I would suggest contacting one of the staff. From my understanding, Derrick sums it up well. Like Dave said, we don't need to be bashing/flaming anyone on this site (be them part of it or not).
  17. All I can say is that Tim is correct in that you will get opinions that run the whole range (and it is not just this hobby ... once you get this many people together it is bound to happen). So now for my opinion I would not "scrap" the whole thing just to remove the "live sand". If the tank is doing good, let it be. Nitrates accumulating in the tank is a natural thing. Adding a fuge or macro helps with this, but periodic water changes also reduce it.
  18. They put a picture up on their Facebook page of it right after adding rock.
  19. My fish/corals are lucky to get fed once a week.... and all are doing great.
  20. Didn't you also have a cube in the end? You have had nice tanks. Hoping this works out!
  21. Or spray paint a crab ... think of it, you could have a crab with purple flames on it's shell!
  22. Do you feed your tank a lot? Hungry fish tend to be more prone to eat algae when they are not full from pellets/mysis/etc.
  23. He would probably be the only thing left in your tank Look at those claws!
