  1. I like the 14K's, as they give a nice mix of the yellow and blue light. I am running Phoenix bulbs in my tank, and they tendto be a bit bluer than some other 14K bulbs.
  2. Very nice tank. Welcome!
  3. Exciting times I remember when we had that appointment ... the tech of course downplays that could be a margin of error ... though he was pretty positive on ours being a girl, and he was right.
  4. This is the purplish thing I could find:
  5. Wow. I have never heard of an anemone spawning.... always just splitting. Very cool. So from your research, are they asexual? Meaning, are you gonna have millions of anemones in the future?

    Macroalgae

Have you checked out ReefCleaners (one of our sponsors)? They normally carry a good selection of macros.
  7. Also, there are some (be them rare) tanks that xenia just don't like, regardless of the parameters. In my old 24g tank I could not keep xenia, despite everything else doing fantastic. Now in my current 75g, I tried it again, and it is growing like the weed you hear about Same water source, but different lights (my 75g is MH, my 24g was CF).
  8. I believe HeadlessDonky used to have some of his tanks plumbed together .. but he got out of the hobby I believe He was keeping seahorses. I have read about it on other boards also.
  9. Sorry, I have no experience with the new ER skimmers. But I did like my Sapphire skimmer when I had my nano-tank.
  10. Hmm.. the picture says the outlets turn off after 11 hours unless you press hte button when the LED blinks. Not that good of a feature ... and kinda sounds like the button on Lost
  11. Wow, those are looking great for being newly fragged. Great job prof
  12. Hammers/Candy/Frogspawn are super easy, as they are branching and have lots of dead skeleton to cut. I have accidentally fragged mine many a times by knocking them. And I agree, I am more hesitant on cutting through live flesh. BTW, my initial question was just checking to see if I needed to move this thread to the For Sale section
  13. Welcome back to the hobby!
  14. All those tentacles!
  15. I think your fish catching is just going to require this:
  16. I also have seen lots of growth. But on the color side .. well the jury is still out. I have seen some color shifts in some of my colors, not not always to my liking. I had a bleaching effect in a few of my LPS, but that reversed after a week or two. Most of my zoa's have stayed really brightly colored, but by red purple people eaters green mouths have faded some, and my pink zoas have taken on a more darker red color. Of course, this could also be influenced by the corals adapting to the 14K lighting over time.
  17. Another thing to consider when keeping SPS is flow. They like a lot of it I hear.* * This is coming from a non-SPS expert in any way. I have one dinky one in my 75g tank, with no plans to keep more.
  18. Depending on the fish load, and maturity of the tank, this is definitely possible. In fact, I regularly, um, "forget" to feed my fish for a couple of days in a row (yes, I hear Mark's Tank Protective Services on their way ), and things are fine. The tangs forage for algae on the rocks and glass. I see the other fish scanning the rockwork for food.
  19. That is my Flame Angelfish. He is just blurry because he was swimming around when I took the picture.
  20. I hope you put that little guy in your sump, and not the main tank. It looks like it has pointy claws, which normally means not-so-nice. (Don't want to scare you! Just mentioning ).
  21. I noticed this when I epoxied a coral overtop of some coraline. A day or so later, the coral was knocked down and I had a bright orange patch left behind.
  22. Ya know, this makes sense. I have had a heck of a time keeping chaeto alive in my fuge. Well, I don't really have much algae in the main tank, so my nutirent levels are low. Plus, I am dosing with the Reef Fuel also. My zoa's love it.
