  1. that post was a rollercoaster of emotions!
  2. If it doesnt have mike in a bikini, I don't want it.
  3. It's Samuel L. Jackson. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free Even better. DENITRICATION, B*$CH.
  4. http://oregonstate.edu/ua/ncs/archives/2013/nov/large-study-shows-pollution-impact-coral-reefs-%E2%80%93-and-offers-solution I wasn't willing to shell out $35 bucks to download the article, but I'm very interested in the nutrient levels that were used for this experiment.
  5. The only benefit to BB is if you want to run ULNS for a SPS heavy system. I love BBQ and all acronyms.
  6. Maybe so, but definitely keep an eye on it. You input water is fairly high TDS, but you should be zero at the spigot with new filters if everything is wired up correctly. Do you have a flow restrictor rated for whatever GPD your unit is?
  7. Are you running DI resin? If so, it should be down at 0 tds out if you have new membranes/filter media.
  8. The whole point of this tank is to have a clean looking, "in wall" installation. IMO you should try to remove as many eyesores as is practical. Save yourself the headache down the road and do a sump now and ditch the idea of an HOB.
  9. Define what a ton of money means to you.
  10. No it comes with a controller.
  11. If you turn it way down youd probably be ok. Isn't there a smaller one in the pipe ?

  13. All of those goals, except nitrate and phosphate monitoring are doable with the standard reef controllers. Controllers for nitrate/phosphate exist, but they are suuuuuper expensive and not really intended for aquaria. Your best bet will probably be an apex, although it is most expensive. The user interface is the best of the three, and there is more local support for it than the other controllers. Good luck, we'll be here to help you along the way!
  14. They can, but it requires you purchase additional hardware. You have to buy a speedwave/jebao cable from reef angel and then patch that together to an ethernet cable.

I certainly was. Didn't know you had gone through with it though. I'd be happy to pay for a share of it.

  18. the flip side of that argument mike is that we can't be certain that the emitters that we use are accurately representing the exceptionally discrete subsets of light that get a protein to look pretty. In other words, just because we have a a "red" LED does not necessarily mean that there is a sufficient quantity or quality of light at XYZ wavelength to get a particular protein to flouresce. At this point LEDs are as much art as science, and this is coming from a former member of the LED or Bust bandwagon.
  19. I don't know that you can draw that correlation (i.e., reds/greens killed his tank) when he went from panorama pros to Hydras at 90% RB. The dude just nuked his tank because he started off too high. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that an EXTREMELY sparse number of R/G LEDs may be useful for coloration, but achieving good balance/spread/blend with point source like LEDs is tough. That's why i think people like kessils/lumias so much is that they're all packed so close that it's a much better blend than the DIY units. It's one of the reasons I went back to a 20k radium

Hah, thanks. There is definitely a need for us to have one lying around. Appreciate the offer though.
