    for the livestock you have, unless it's purely an aesthetic thing, I wouldn't add more if it were me. There are some small strip LEDs that you can supplement color with (check the ecoexotic stunner strips). } As far as nitrate rollercoasters go, that's a little weird. IME, unless something dies and is rotting, it tends to creep and build, not vary wildly. If it's real, and not test error, it may have to do with the small tank volume and high frequency of water changes that you're doing. What kind of swing are we talking about?

    You're doing all the right things. A little more light might be better for it in the long run, but it sounds like you have that covered. Just stay on top of water changes, and make sure you keep an eye on the RBTA daily. If something looks funky, let us know. Even a relatively small 'nem in a BC29 could have pretty devastating effects if it decides to go thermonuclear.

    that doesn't seem right....your incoming pressure should be like 40-50psi. Do you have a gauge that you can check your house pressure at a hose outlet? I'm a little surprised that you're even getting water through the RO membrane at all at 12 psi.

    my gac is new, but no GFO. do any of the LFS carry GFO? I've been meaning to get some in a GB, but I've never had an ideal place to put it (no real estate in the back or sump area for a reactor). Maybe it's the PO4....

    I've got a call in to a colleague at the city water department about seasonal water quality (silicates specifically). I'm just at a loss for how i can have dinos when my nutrients are so low. They definitely look more substantial than the dusting of diatoms that I've seen before. ugh, do not want to deal with this.

    it's been 2 days in a row where I either turn the substrate or siphon off the top layer, so I can't really say how they behave at night. It's just weird because my NO3/PO4 levels are pretty dang low...Maybe i need to jack my pH up a bit.
