In my experience, damnsels (pun intended) don't coexist with much of anything. Only the damsels would be fair inhabitants of the 16g tank, and they pretty much prevent you from putting anything else in there because of their aggression. Most of us have been down this path, and I'm not dogging you, just trying to prevent you heartaches and headaches down the road.

Kind of depends on what you want to do. All you really need is the arduino board and the cable to connect it to your computer. You can play with it that way and get a feel for the system. Then what you purchase depends on what your goal is.

If I could give some advice, just buy the board...Your time is worth more than the 10 bucks you save soldering all those parts, unless you just want the practice.

So I got to thinking today, what are the must have pieces of livestock that you think all your friends should know about and why? Bonus BONUS points if you post a picture. I'll split mine into three categories: 1) Coral: Meteor Shower Cyphastrea This coral is beautiful and easy to keep (mine's on the sand bed) 2) Fish: Purple firefish. This fish has as much character as my clownfish, and was able to get along with their aggressive behavior. I will have at least one of these in my tank forever after. 3) Invert: Fighting Conch These guys have about as much personality as you could expect out of a snail. I have two, and they're indispensable. They've helped take care of my nuisance sand algae by constantly stirring it up.

What size is the new tank, and where is the build thread ?

Something to consider for those switching back is that the available colors of LEDs are changing, and if color is the issue, that blue/white isn't necessarily the best combo (can vouch, it's what I use and wish I had more of a red pop)

how big is especially big?

Typically the milky tube is silicone and will last longer and work better on the rollers.

are the OEM bearings low quality?

The only downside to wsiwygs is I can't recall what the friggin piece is supposed to look like.
