  1. What dosers are you using ?
  2. GFO has a much greater capacity to affect your tank parameters. Carbon can add phosphates, but generally it's a small amount. The only people who need to be concerning themselves with that, are those who are trying to achieve ultra low nutrient
  3. Your reagent is busted. Most reagents top out at two years (if they're liquid based). Powders can last another few years.
  4. i think it was the ramping up of GFO and alk swing.
  5. Mehhhhh starting to see some bleaching. Bums me the hell out.
  6. I do. Mgs been pretty steady from 1350-1400.
  7. Yeah, I'm on LED. No indications of parasites, I've pulled my pieces and checked them under a magnifying glass.
  8. It went from 8-6 in the span of about a week, precipitated (I think) by moving my GFO to a reactor from a static bag. I think I just stripped my phosphates too quickly and precipitated out some of my alkalinity, although my phosphate readings don't indicate that :/
  9. So when I unplugged everything, the cycling went away, but it read a constant 0.09v.
  10. I measured the voltage, and I got a small reading (0.002v) cycling about 2-3 times per second. However, I turned off all equipment and it still cycled. So I guess that is ruled out.
  11. Does anyone have a good guide for determining stray voltage in the tank ?
  12. i think i may have figured it out, i started tumbling my GFO two weeks ago, which has led to a slow, but steady decline in alk below 7. I'll start to slowly bump it back up and see how things go.
  13. Yeah, did a wc today and put in new GFO and carbon. We'll see.
  14. No to the water change. No apparent electrical leak, equipment is functioning fine, everything else is happy.
  15. Previously I have had most of my SPS with polyps wagging a majority of the day. In the past few days, all of my SPS have lost colo (potentially just psychosomatic as their polyps aren't out) and have been very closed up. My LPS are all happy, fish happy, params have all been stable. I changed my MP10 location and flow, and jacked up my lights by 10% before all this happened, but they have since been returned to their previous settings. Has anyone else experienced this?
  16. My 3 year old has pulled off my mp10 many times, no big deal though.
  17. These liquifit fittings from usplastic are *far* superior to john guest, although they don't make a ball valve in 1/2" (I used mur-lock) The valves let me individually control the chambers so I can get the GFO to tumble. The entire setup is run via MJ1200. My only complaint is that the 1/2 poly tubing is a real b*tch to get routed, so I'm going to have to purchase additional connections to get my route neatened up. I'm running GFO in Rx1 and Carbon and Purigen in Rx2.

RULES ARE RULES PEOPLE. POST UP.
  19. That seems fine to me. As long as we keep track of the SN of whatever the current backup unit is, we should be fine. I think if you use the backup, you become the keeper for the next in line, that way we're not having to work out logistics of constantly getting it back to a person who has an unequal share of responsibility.
  20. there should be an understanding that this is *not* anyone's full time base unit and should *not* be used for more than maybe two weeks while the user's base is under repair. Users are responsible for picking up the unit from whoever had it last. the likelihood of two people needing it at the same time is pretty slim, but whoever asks first gets it first.
  21. Go on reefcentral, check the going rate on used apex base unit, divide amongst users and have them paypal the balance, whereby their ownership increases by whatever fractional percent they paid. I'm in, contingent on more than 6 users (~$30 buy in)
  22. I'd be interested, however, I'm equally interested in how you get out of this arrangement, (i.e, do you take a 10 dollar payment from remaining members on a depreciated value)
