i changed my BRS reactor setup so I could control flow to each individually so I could tumble my GFO and keep my carbon flow relatively low. MJ1200 runs it perfectly.

Just pack it in a BRS reactor between sponges. Problem solved!

I hear ya. still, they're in it to keep you as a customer, and if you point them to this thread, they might send you out another unit. Sounds like a hardware or reagent issue. I've tested mine against some pretty sophisticated lab equipment, and have had satisfactory results.

Ive had pretty good experience with hanna customer service, I'd write them, tell them whats up and get them to send you a new unit with new reagent.

one other thing to check is your reagent still good? (check the exp date on the pouches)

I love my hanna alk tester. Liquid reagent is a thing of beauty. There's some debate about it being off by a percentage http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/8/review, so I adjust my readings by an amount in my tracking spreadsheet, just so I can monitor the range potential. I use the red sea Mg titrating kit, and have found it to be very easy to use (although the math at the end is a little squirrely).
