  1. And now you'll only need 14 dosing pumps for all your zeo ! It's a conspiracy from the zeo-peristaltic-industrial complex.
  2. i think a photographic breakdown would be better served mike. MAKE IT HAPPEN YOURE NOT BUSY AMIRITE?!
  3. Just don't do any selfies with the pistol. Point and shoot has a totally different meaning.
  4. Interested to see what you've found and to figure out what the heck is going on.
  5. GAC removes dioxin pretty handily, but maybe a push to use tools/gloves would be beneficial.
  6. countdown to bio3 3.....2......1.......
  7. That is an option. My preference is to "start with a clean slate" and try to pull out as much as I can and then remix my salt water to exact specs.

    Hello

Be wary of the stores! Not to suggest that anyone will mislead you intentionally, but stores don't exist unless they sell product... Get opinions from end users, as they have nothing to gain or lose from their opinion except their reputation. If they have the same opinion as the LFS, awesome! Buy there! But I would strongly recommend against going in to a store blind and asking what to buy.
  10. Mines at a little over a year under my care, maybe another year or two under original owners.
  11. The eheims are generally a clear green plastic. If you shined a bright enough light on them I bet you could see in.
  12. Maybe it's a result of some kind of chemical reaction that occurs (or does not occur) in your DSBs or your lack of skimmer? The problem with reef tanks is that there are *so* many variables, excluding livestock, that it is really difficult to tease out a root cause, if there even is only one (maybe many).
  13. You might really consider a moisture tight enclosure for your apex base and EB8's. It might be an expense you didnt intend to have, but hey, isn't that kinda par for the course with reefing ? Saltwater vapor + non-waterproof electronics = poof, and when you consider that your apex setup is *at least* $500, probably more like $750, you want that to last as long as possible. This is what the neptune tech uses: http://forum.neptunesystems.com/showthread.php?198-A-Great-Enclosure&highlight=enclosure
  14. put a ball valve on the outlet and turn down the flow till you get a tumble.
  15. Agree with Brian about Mitch. Since you're running a bigger system, I'd have a look at running unistrut. It's expensive, but it's awesome. Pretty commonly used in electrical and sometimes the plumbing trades, it's a system of cross beams with accessories for holding pipes and such. http://www.unistrut.us/index.php?WP=show&GRP=Pipe%20and%20Conduit%20Clamps I don't know how your apex is stored, but do you have a dry side where you can store your electronics components in a moisture-free (or drastically reduced) area?
  16. You've got the touch tim! The reason I do RODI is that I'd like to try to reduce the variability of what I'm putting in to my tank. Many of us have seen the seasonal variability that occurs with even water that has been though the RODI. You clearly have some kind of voodoo that allows you to grow great tanks with tap water.
  17. Absolutely. I'll put it in queue for this weekend.
  18. Nope. I haven't seen, noticed anecdotally, or read that they are capable of carrying diseases transferable to any other inhabitants.
  19. In general, most lenses will be backward compatible but not always forward compatible. There are plenty of old lenses, especially prime lenses (i.e., fixed length e.g. 50mm) that will work perfectly fine with new bodies. It tends to get a bit hairier when you start adding autofocus, but in practice people tend to stick with lenses designed for your body anyway. The switch you are talking about is probably from the dx lense series from nikon where there were some cross line incompatibility when nikon introduced a lower cost consumer grade DSLR. This article should sufficiently explain to/confuse you for nikon lenses anyway. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm
