  1. Got some peroxide, gonna give it a shot tonight. I'll clip the dead heads and cross my fingers.
  2. You're not the only one with the weirdest, uh, LED related phenomenon.
  3. So i picked up a nice colony of zoas two weeks ago. They looked fine at RCA, and ever since theyve been in my tank they rarely open, and just generally look pissed. Everything else in the tank (frogspawn, bubble, etc) seem very happy, but not so much for the zoas. My first two thoughts were my LEDs (24x3watt)@40% and too much flow (mp10@50%reef mode). Am i missing something?
  4. I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times, you are a scholar and a saint. How is the motley crue doing?
  5. I'll just make a euphemism for killing the algae. How about "flipping the donkey". As in, I'm going to need to remove these zoas before i can flip the donkey.
  6. Good points to all. I'll go the peroxide route. The zoa plug is too far gone, IMO, to salvage the plug in-tank. Anyone have advice for fragging single zoas and transplanting?
  7. Diagnosis confirmed, it's cotton candy algae. I think I'm just going to refrag my zoas, and bleach dip the other small corner of rock that currently has it. The affected areas are, in my opinion, too small to be readily cleaned up. I think I'm just gonna have to do it the old fashioned way.
  8. I've ogled over those many a time. What was the final price?
  9. Ok so i did some rubbing, its definitely not slime/cyano. It's fuzzy and resists a good brush with a finger.
  10. Is cyano typically fuzzy? I've always thought of it more as a slime than a fuzz. I'll report back tonight on its wipe-off-ability
  11. Haven't tried wiping yet. I'll do that tonight. What kind of dips are recommended ?
  12. Anyone else have this kind of algae? It has gotten noticeable worse on my zoa frag, but it is contained to the plug. I'm assuming the panacea is to reduce nutrients and photoperiods? Any other silver bullets?
  13. In some parts of the country (my house) this kind of thing would be probable cause for justifiable homicide. Hopefully a jury of my wife's peers would include a reefer to throw the jury.
  14. After doing they cable myself , I probably would have paid for it the first time around. It was not a whole lot of fun to troubleshoot.
  15. Don't know what to tell you about those commands. I havent used them on my apex, and my knowledge is apex based. Sorry i can't help you with that one :/
  16. I'll give it a shot! Let me know what you want for it.
  17. They are used to create kind of a stair step type of action for pumps. For instance, your pump will be on for 20 minutes, then 60 minutes, then off. 10/20/30 on/off/on would be on 10 minutes, off 20 minutes, on 30 minutes. It becomes more useful when you want to stagger multiple pumps to have opposing action. For instance: PM1 10/20/30 on/off/on PM2 10/20/30 off/on/off Would give you opposing actions. Hope this helps.
  18. Do you know what the LED breakdown in those videos was? Looks like just B/W to me. I'm interested in the diffuser material!
  19. Derp sorry. It's Monday right ?
  20. One of our illustrious sponsors? AquaSD?
  21. I'm out on friday as well :/
  22. Looks friggin amazing. I'll be directing my hatchet wielding wife to your house after she sees me ordering more stuff from RapidLED. Do you wish that you could more finely tweak the smaller color constituents, or are you happy with the way that they all dim simultaneously? I'm thinking about adding a small third channel with a few more LEDs (reds, UV, cyan) to supplement my 2x12 rb/cw.
  23. As I've been doing a bit more reading, have you considered using a diffuser for the whole fixture? You'd lose some PAR, but that's not usually an issue with LEDs. I'm considering adding in a few "warmer" colors to my fixture, as it is aesthetically pleasing, but i feel like it is lacking in the red department.
