    i know how I could mount the halides pretty easy, I'm wondering more about hanging the vho's as well, and then what I should use to hang the retro fixture it self?

    I'm switching to a 7' tank here soon and the price of a canopy for that is crazy! So i'm looking into alternatives for my lighting. I'll have 3-4 Halides and 4-6 VHOs for actinics and some leds for moonlighting. I would like to build a simple hanging retrofit frame to hang over the top, but i'm not familiar with what I would need to do it. Can anyone who has hung their lights not in a pre-purchased fixture tell me how you did it, and what you used to do it? Thanks!

    I did not succeed but that was in a 90. I would think you should be fine in a 180 though. I'm about to get a 200 and i'm going to put another pair in.

    Check your temperature when it's on. That would be my biggest worry. And do only an hour or 2 at the beginning. Hope for the best! Take you time!

    If you have actual live rock, thats a start. You can also supplement with bottle tigger pods (Live pods to seed your aquarium) My ORA Spotted Mandarin eats Mysis, but my Wild Blue Mandarin does not.

    I was informed of a lady trying to sell an Oceanic 200g that is the 7 x 2 x 2 so I went to Georgetown to check it out. It was used as a freshwater tank, and then as a snake Terrarium. There are a few small scratches on what is the front right now, and on the top trim of the front. The back side looks good from what I could see. It is on a very sturdy custom stand. There is a small nic on the left corner, but it doesn't look too bad. The lady that's selling it does not have a Cell nor Internet, so I told her I would post it on here.     Yeah, you can definetly see a color difference when they're turned up. switching up the power tomorrow. Should I go ahead and go straight to 100%, or should I do 75% for a few days first?

    Did he make a base with acrylic or anything, or is the base a rock? I couldn't tell. I've been brainstorming something similar for my new 200g. I can't recall exactly, but not much... 2 or 3 bucks. They're called "Driveway Markers" and were in Lowes by all the house number stuff.

    What problems could it cause having them at 50%? They're on for 2 1 hour periods each day right now. I'm planning to turn up the power on Wednesday to 75% and on Saturday to 100%.

    That was my thought. These 20k's are about 6 months old from what I was told. I've been trying to research the color differences between the kelvins and brands. It's alot to figure out.

    Before, 4 VHO 110w Super Actinics, 2 VHO 110w Actinic White After, 2 VHO 110w Super Actinics, 2 400w 20K Lumenmax Halides at 50% power A little Blue for my taste, will the colors be better with higher power? I know it's definitely brighter with more power. But I like it so far. Might change to a different K though. We'll see
