  1. Ok. here goes! lol GFO is from BRS or local places have Rowaphos or similar media, there are phosphates in the food that you feed your fish and well and in some algaes, so running a phosphate remover in a reactor or filter bag will help. Carbon is the same that you buy from any pet store for aquariums including online (which you will definitely need for soft corals since they release natural toxins) and also run it in a reactor or filter bag. ALK can be done by hand or by pump. The pump can rid you of the schedule of dosing it yourself, and coupled with the apex can be automated. I use CoralRx as my coral dip, and it doesn't hurt to dip anything, it just kills anything other than the coral itself so that you don't introduce any unwanted pests to your tank. Fish vary by diet needs but as long as you're not feeding them the same thing everyday (as far as frozen) then you should be fine. Make sure to use some Nori or Spirulina Brine shrimp for any Tangs. I use New LIfe Spectrum Thera A+ pellets, which has a full variety of ingredients to suffice most fish. ATO is a neat thing to have and one less thing to have to remember to do, I would buy the Tunze Osmolater which uses a laser eye instead of a float valve/switch. My switch has gotten stuck on me before and filled the tank with RO water that I had in the reservoir. But you would be fine doing it yourself too, with Soft Corals, they won't mind the fluctuation.
  2. Check out the latest video in my build. Better than a pic
  3. I'll let you know, as of now I'm trying to sell the full rocks.
  4. I need to do a trim of my Pulsing Pom Pom Xenia. If you can come by Wednesday, or Thursday after 7. or Saturday morning, I'll give you plenty, and I mean plenty! Pm Me! Pickup is in Manor.
  5. Calcium Reactor? LOL I have those pieces of the Stag that just RTN'd, they aren't small though!
  6. I took a hammer to my last large rock and now have 3 medium rocks for 10$ each and a bunch of small pieces 3 for 5$. I can bring them to work or you can pick them up here. Pm if interested.
  7. I'd say go for the vortech over the 2 returns, for heat and for the health of your livestock, but at the same time, it may be overkill for your tank. If you're not going to have a controller for your tank, get the regular MP10, not the wireless, it's a little less I believe. What you're paying for is the random flow factor and the ability to change the intesity to whatever you like or your corals like. With return pumps, they're only going to push in one direction at one speed, whereas with the Vortechs you can have them pulsing between high and low speeds at a range set by you, or going up and down randomly throughout the day, much more like the real reef. It's up to your liking too, You could get a couple of Koralia nano's and a timer or two and have them alternate too I think. I used a Build my LED 1' fixture over my 10 gallon and I had to move a piece of SPS down because it was bleaching, so it definitly puts out some light. It would cost you more than the additional fixture that matches yours though.
  8. I've seen GSP backs, and I've seen Montipora Backs!
  9. What's your ALK? And your nitrates? I'd say they're fine, just five em time.
  10. Pm'd for yellow Mille and pulchra
  11. Were you feeding the Hippo Nori? I've found that is the key with tangs. If they're eating Nori on the regular, they're more likely to do better.
  12. Can you lower your pH without lowering your ALK?

I washed it in Vinegar and calibrated it, now reading correctly. Says the tank is 7.97, so I expect that to be correct.

I heard of someone hiring a company, and when they returned all their fish were gone, and the co claimed the one left killed them all!

  14. yeah, he'll eventually be going into my 200 at home for sure!
  15. I added a Tunze 9002 so I had to do some rearranging but I like it a little better I think. I added a few more corals from my 200 that I had for Sale and no ever picked up, and also picked up a Harlequin Shrimp and Tail Spot Blenny. I've had some Cyano since starting the tank so I added some GFO in a filter back in my HOB and it seems to be killing it off. Here's some updated pics!
  16. when you say pink cotton candy, is it Cyano? If it is, It definitly feeds on phosphates and light. It will take some manual removal (Siphoning) or chemical removal (Chemclean, CyanoRX, etc) to get it out.
  17. Very surprised at the quickness of Live Aquaria's replys and ease of their Guarantee!

  18. So I have been keeping in contact with Live Aquaria about my recent purchase. One of the Lyretails didn't make it through the first night, and the second perished 2 days after that. I also informed them that the Achilles has yet to accept any food from me, I have tried Mysis, PE Mysis, Brine, Angel Formula, Marine Cuisine, Krill, NLS Pellets, and Nori, all soaked in Garlic and Aminos. They refunded the Anthias' immediately no questions asked! They also reccomended to continue trying to entice the Achilles with Garlic and Seaweed and added an additional week to my 14 day guarantee making it a 21 day guarantee and instructed me to contact them at that time if the condition hasn't improved. I'd have to say, I expected there to be more hoops to jump through for their guarantee but they are definitly holding up their end of the bargain!
  19. I'd say pull him. But that's me. My 6 line has never been a bother to my corals.
  20. I dose essential elements, Iodine, potassium, and mg weekly so I doubt that there's an issue with those. IDK I'm not worried about not having a bunch of coraline, I just thought it was interesting.
  21. I don't go through much calcium. I was running 600 according to when my Hanna checker first came in. I turned off my doser until it went back down to 400, which took about 3-4 months. But I wasn't getting a whole lot if growth at my apartment. I'm getting a lot more now. Idk As far as coraline, I wonder if it doesn't grow on the glass as much because LEDs are a lot more directional than most lights and there isn't much spill over onto the glass.
  22. Just making an observation but with the same live rock I have and same tank, under halides and vhos I had coraline everywhere! Ever since I switch to majority led, I have little to no coraline in my tank. I can see a few specs but nothing like the scraping I used to do every week with my 90 gal. Thoughts and experiences from other led users?
  23. Yes, river city has a 150 gallon tub that's really big, you need a truck for sure. Fishy business has a 100g that I fit in my highlander.
