Couple questions. I see the ecopico marketed as 5 gal some places, including ecoxotic's website and on other sites it's listed as 5.1 gal. Is this tank acceptable? My other question is about aio tanks. Is the area in the back considered a sump? When I look at them online the dimensions are given but rarely is it directly stated what the display alone measures. And lastly, when a tank is advertised as a 4 gallon, is that total volume or just the display area? Thanks!

Still looking. It really has to be very small like the ones MCC gave away in order to fit. Bio, I'd definitely take you up on the offer but I don't have any appropriate magnets.

After some looking around, I'm leaning towards a micro reefs 3 gal. Very sleek little tank, glass, with a glass lid. I really like the dimensions of these since I was wanting something shallow and not so tall and skinny like all of them seem to be. Too bad shipping is so much, but still might be worth it. I also like the jbj picotope but don't want the light and don't need the filter. It's also nice to have a cover if I'm going to be gone. Hmmmm. Did anyone decide if shipping becomes deducted with the item from the budget?

I'm right there with you. So frustrating. I can never find anything wrong either and have tried all those things too. The only thing I've found work is to put them in a completely different tank. So frustrating

So is everyone keeping the tank and equipment they are planning to use a secret for now? I'm curious what people are using, especially for lighting. I just went to a couple lfs today and didn't find the kind of tank I'm wanting or any appropriate lighting. I do have 2 extra led lights that came off other nanos, but I'm not sure the light they put out is adequate. Might need to borrow a par meter! Anybody familiar with growing corals under the ecopico light? I have that with 2 additional light strips.

I've used those heater magnets too, they're great for many things. Mag floats work too.

I'd be happy to give you some sand from my tanks, it's just that they are really small so I can only spare a cup or two. I have tons of pods, spaghetti worms, little chitons, etc.

That sounds like a great idea but doesn't leave long at all to have them running. The hard part is keeping it going. I think 6mo sounds better.

The 2 smaller frags are for sale. Both were cut and glued over 2 weeks ago. Grows pretty fast and has been very easy to care for. I have them on the sandbed below a bunch of blastos, so I'd say they don't need much light. Mine look just like the live aquaria picture if my pic shows blurry. $10 each. I've been following along and I'm definitely interested, though I might be a bit behind. It'd be great if this could be it's own section with the rules kept updated as a sticky.
