  1. Rudy came out to us Sunday and did some work on our highlander. Great communication, prompt, and did a great, clean job. Fast too! Thank you Rudy!
  2. That looks really good. When do you think you might add the seahorses?
  3. Okay, so assuming I'm going to get an apex, it sounds like different parts of it are optional. Can anyone suggest what to buy according to my tank equipment list?
  4. That makes sense. Thanks! How does it notify you? An email or something? And the tank isn't near a place to connect it to the internet. Are there other options?
  5. A water on the floor sensor!? I can certainly see the value in that!! Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
  6. What can you check over the internet regarding your ato?
  7. I want to resurrect this thread because I'm wondering the same thing. I'm putting together a 75 gal that'll be mostly lps and fish. I have ai sols (that have a controller) and plan on adding a bml strip to fill in the missing colors. Besides that, a couple power heads, ato, refugium light, return pump, skimmer, maybe the wavebox I have, and that's all I can think of right now. I don't run heaters and don't anticipate a chiller with the leds. My tiny nanos stay just the right temp without heaters/chillers, so I'm assuming this much bigger tank won't need them either (right?). Not planning on any fancy reactors, but probably one with gfo and/or carbon. As for the power heads, I'm almost sure I'm going to get 2 controllable tunze ones. So I need to decide to get the tunze controller or spend a little more and get an apex or similar. So with that list of equipment, what's your opinion? I really don't know anything about them except what I've read in this thread. Mostly I find them very very confusing. I like to keep things simple but I'm doing my best to set this tank up right from the start rather than upgrade down the road and waste all that money replacing stuff. Thanks!
  8. That is SO awesome!! I could tell you were giving clues to something This has been a really fun build thread! What did you use to coat those props?
  9. That's so cool! I'm surprised they stay in the egg so long.
  10. That looks great. What lights are you using?

    Sumps

So are you basically saying the expensive ones you buy already ready from some company are no different than the ones people make, they're just already ready? And you pay for the name brand?

    Sumps

    Very interesting!

    Sumps

I just bought a new tank and this one is reef ready with a sump. This is my first experience with sumps. I'm curious, what is the difference in using a sump made out of a plain tank, like just has baffles added, or buying a made one from a company? They can be SO expensive!
  14. Just had the new (to me) 75 gal delivered! Build thread starting soon. I need plenty of help :) This is my first tank with a sump.

  16. Dang, that sucks. Glad the corals are okay! I'm anxiously waiting for pictures!!

    free sps pieces

    Me me me! Sending pm.
  18. As far as dipping coral, if the flatworm exit doesn't kill eggs, do you think other dips do? Like coral rx? I've wondered before when dealing with them myself.
  19. Livestock changes are allowed, they just come out of your budget, unless you replace with the exact same thing. Or like Brian said, sell it.
  20. I think this decision is completely subjective. I like to keep my rock off of the back wall, mostly for better flow, and also I like to keep my back glass scraped for a really clean look.
  21. Welcome to the club! I'm going to head over and check out your build now
  22. I have the same problem, it's very frustrating. Can you turn down your blues so only the white leds are on? I don't have any advice because I'm never really pleased with the lighting in my pictures since switching to leds. Turning off the blues does take care of that though. But then it's just pictures with only white light.
  23. Your tank looks amazing! I can't wait to see it filled up.
  24. Welcome to the club, glad you found it!
  25. I'm sorry to hear that, it always sucks to lose a fish, especially when you try so hard to keep them happy. I'm not much for suggestions, still trying to think of something for my pico.
