  1. I'm so sorry to read this. I hope everything turns out okay.
  2. I'm sorry to hear that, what a bummer
  3. Wow, it looks like highlighter!
  4. I'm interested in an sps primer but I'll be happy just talking tanks in general.
  5. I always have a little helper too I like the black, and what a great idea about using the stairs for water changes! What'd your wife say when she got up?
  6. Looks very nice. I'm looking forward to the video!
  7. I run my waste into my top loading washing machine and wash our laundry in it. No waste here.
  8. I love the clowns and the nice chalice too! Looking good. Once you get your Mg up it'll hopefully stay there. Usually Mg doesn't get used up too fast. I noticed my lps went crazy with growth when I got my Mg up. They colored up better too.
  9. Your tank looks incredible. Coral, fish, aquascaping, everything! I like the sandbed too. Excellent job!
  10. Wow, now that's a tank! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
  11. Everyday!? I'm going to start feeding mine more often!
  12. I don't know actually. I'd imagine one. It's in a cave so I'm not sure how it's going to end up growing. I might have to pop it out of there eventually. Next time I'm working in there I'll look, now I'm curious!
  13. Got a new FTS after cleaning up the glass some. Snapped some shots of things in the tank Pom Pom crab Cloves from Sherita Leptastrea Toadstool (usually the polyps are out about twice this long) Dendro Fish
  14. That's exciting! Great title for your thread, lol.
  15. Also, I was planning on using something like cement board on the inside. Blocking moisture from getting into the wall won't be a problem, I'll just need to vent the sump for the sake of it not being so damp in the cabinet.
  16. Thank you! I was hoping you'd see my post and comment. And I'm so glad I'll be able to just get all of that out of the way. The 2x4s are laying flat, so it makes sense they're just for holding up that ledge. Well that makes things a whole lot easier. I'll think about the idea of moving an outlet up into the arch. I have 4 kessils and each have a big power supply.
  17. This does seem to be the best choice, I just chicken out when thinking about how that might affect the wall structurally. I'm pretty confident at least part of it is load-bearing. I don't know too much about construction. I'm definitely considering cutting out those studs in the middle though. That seems safe enough and the tank stand should offer more structure to the wall in place of them. I need to learn more about it.
  18. Oh, and I see the pom pom crab out every time I feed, and sometimes just for no reason, so that's fun! He's much more comfortable being out now.
  19. Thanks, you took great care of it! I feed cyclopease and occasionally flakes crumbled up small, and even less occasionally filter feeder food. I spot feed the dendro pellets. In such a small volume I worry about feeding too much and too often..maybe I can increase feeding with increased water changes?

    Welcome to the club!
  21. Thought I'd quick update this thread. I snapped a few pics because when I fed the tank, the pom pom crab was right out in the front. I woke the tank up to feed and I haven't cleaned the glass in a while, so these are real-life pics of what it looks like lately. We just moved so it's going through a gha outbreak. Things will settle back down and look good again soon. One thing I'm finding interesting is the toad stool up top doesn't seem to have grown at all in the past year. Zoas do marginal/terrible, but the leptastrea is spreading all over. My next goal is to play around with a couple things and see if I can remedy this. Bump up the water changes being the first thing. Eventually maybe increase the light output. I run chemipure elite, so maybe try something else. FTS after the lights had been out about an hour The little fish I've had in there a good while. Any idea what it is? It flicks up that little fin on its back. Another resident Pom pom crab. He was sure hard to get a pic of.
  22. How are things going? How are you liking the ceramic rocks you made?
  23. I just measured the openings in between the studs, and it's 15", 15.5", 15" wide and 7" front to back. That wire leads from the other outlet, on the dining room side, to the outlet in middle of where I want the stand, on the wood floor side. I'm planning on moving this outlet that's in middle of the wall I'll be taking out, to the inside of the stand where all the electrical will be. I'll have it switched over to a gfi relay (I think that's what the electrician called it) since a dedicated circuit is nearly impossible in this location (and I don't feel it necessary).
  24. Welcome to the club! I also love that you set up a tank for your mom. I don't know anything about the royal grammas disappearing, just wanted to say it's a bummer and I hope you can figure it out.
  25. This tank idea sounds great, I love it! I've always wanted a long shallow tank. It sounds perfect for pipefish. Do it! Then post lots of pics!
