  1. That tank sure cleaned up nicely. Looking good!
  2. Another interesting write up Ty! Do you think any damage was done from lowering the nitrate and phosphate so fast? Are you going to continue some form of carbon dosing to keep levels low? What about your biopellets, are you using those?
  3. Looking good so far! I would consider ditching the heater. Seahorses like colder water, so unless you're getting colder than 68* you won't need it. I bet you're going to have more trouble keeping the tank cool enough than warm enough. If you decide to keep it in there, you'll want to cover it with something so the seahorses can't hitch to it and burn themselves. There's this stuff at crafting stores that's plastic mesh and you can make a cage of sorts to go around the heater. Do you have any other plans for the tank? Are you thinking of adding macros and setting up a lagoon type tank, or more of the typical mixed reef look?
  4. That light made a big difference. I like the urchin, funny name! It's coming along nicely.
  5. I like the scape too, nice caves!
  6. What a deal!! Wish I had the time to care for another tank
  7. Nice update, you should post a full tank shot too That unknown brain favia looks like orange leptastrea to me.
  8. I need to pick a pump for the closed loop on my new build. I'd like to use a variable speed pump controllable through my apex. Anyone have experience with the Jebaos? I don't know much about picking pumps in general. I'm looking at the Reef Octopus Diablo pumps and Jebao. Thanks for any advice!
  9. Very interesting, thanks for sharing!
  10. I had that, or at least something that fit your description. Timfish had an idea to try doing a water change with the water from a healthy tank. No kidding, I woke up 2 days later and checked out my tank and every single bit of it was just gone. I thought maybe it would come right back after the lights were on for a bit but it never did. This was a month or two ago. Just an idea. I know it could've just been a coincidence but it's an easy thing to try! Also, do you run a skimmer?

    Hello everyone!

That's awesome, welcome to the club! How long do you get to stay in Austin?
  12. Looking good! What don't you like about the stand & canopy?
  13. That looks great! I love all the new additions and you got a heck of a deal. I'd say that was worth the drive!
  14. Woo hoo! Post pics and a stocking list!
  15. it seems to be working. they all look healthy to me. Thanks, one clump of them is taking a while to start growing tissue back, but at least it has it's tentacles out for feeding. How's yours coming along?
  16. Thanks for the feedback I have all the dendros in there to nurse them back to health and it is a bit of a pain to target feed but it's super easy and fast in the pico.
  17. I read up what I could find on the various algae and actually couldn't find much info. I went ahead and just put them in. 2 of the 4 vials I only put in half of the contents so I have reserves in case something eats them. The other 2 I wasn't able to just put in some because they were 1 piece, so I'm just hoping those make it without any trouble. FTS Random tank pics:
  18. Wow, awesome little tank! Details please! Did you make it?
  19. Nice additions. I think the flow looks great for each coral. In my experience any of the people eaters are super picky. Keep trying different light levels and flow and hopefully you'll find a spot they like! Give them time to adjust in between moves tho. Looking good! I like the videos!
  20. Yikes, I wonder what it was? I can't imagine your pumps could've ground up a snail. What kind of critters do you keep in your sump?
  21. My main concern is with bacterial growth and such in the rodi unit itself possibly making the water not fit for drinking. Especially with the gunk I found around the sediment filter. Mainly, how often should I be running bleach through, and how exactly is that done? Or other maintenance.
