  1. I just want to add in that I've been noticing the same thing. I always try to buy first from our sponsors, but there are some items I would love to do a group buy on that none of our sponsors sell.

My order is complete. Thanks for doing this. I can pick up for any other southies if needed.

    whats up!?

Welcome to the group! Having someone to help you that knows what they're doing can save you so much trouble, and money. This is a great group with a ton of knowledge so ask all the questions you can! I know I've gotten a ton of help here and my tank is so much better for it.

    Hello!

Welcome! This is a great group.
  5. I'm a yes. I'm very interested in hearing about natural nitrate reduction.

What times will you be available for pick up? I'd like to join in if I can pick up before traffic gets bad.
  7. Codium has very very low light requirements, little if any chance of going sexual, is a nice dark green that sort of glows because of fine "hairs"all over, and comes in at least 3 growing forms. It doesn't pull out a ton of nitrates compared to cheato but doesn't hurt!
  8. Love the corals you've added. Your tank is really coming along! I enjoy looking at mine under just the blue light too, it's really amazing.

    Ponies!!!

Sorry to hear about that Did you contact Dan or Abbie? They are very nice and easy to talk to, and can help. Also, are you on the dwarf board on seahorse.org? You will certainly get good advice there. Wish I could help, but I have no experience with a nano, nor dwarf seahorses. Sounds like you are well researched and know what you're doing though!
  12. Did raising your Mg levels that high have any effect on corals, fish, or inverts in the tank? How long did you take to get it that high?

    Ponies!!!

I've gotten all of my seahorses through them too. Really great operation they run, and the owners are incredibly nice and helpful. I agree - saltwater IS so addicting!

Beautiful! Your tank looked way bigger than 2 gallons until I noticed the reef plug in the rock . That really put things in perspective. They're so teeny. It looks great!
  15. 3" sweepers? Any chance you could touch them and see if they sting? J/K! Where is yours from? Any idea? I'd love to see pics. Different species have different temp ranges they're happiest in. I have erectus, and horses and corals all do well in my tank at 72-74 degrees which is where my tank sits most of the year. During the coldest months, it's a touch colder but everything seems to live through it just fine. 74 is definitely the high range of where erectus like to be though.
  16. Maze brain (platygyra) is listed in the seahorse tank mates guide as a 0. Meaning the horses won't hurt it, it won't hurt them, they'll do great in a tank made for horses, etc. Here is the guide: http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/tankmates/tankmates.shtml Quote: "0 - represents close to zero risk. There is no competition for food. The fish are mostly benthic. There is not an issue with aggression. Corals would not have the ability to sting." I am very interested in getting one of these and have been researching and looking at them for a couple months now. Just recently I have been hearing from much more experienced reefers that maze brains have sweepers and are semi-aggressive, as I have read about. Now that I'm ready to purchase one, I'm getting nervous about the sweepers and my horses. I keep erectus and I need some reassurance that this is truly a 0. There isn't much in the way of corals that are listed as a 0 and I'm surprised this one is. Does anyone have experience with these? I'd love to hear about real world experience before putting one in my tank! Thank you for any advice!
  17. I'm sorry to hear about your sps It's always such a bummer to have anything in your tank not do well. I would love to see pics of your dwarf seahorses!!
  18. I was thinking the same thing. I hope that the carbon would prevent problems. How often did you change out your carbon?
  19. I have a power head I bought to go with it, and several of the 90 degree hose locking elbows, and some tubing. Basically everything you need to make this a HOB type, or you can just use it in-line with something. I bought it to use on a freshwater tank that I ended up getting rid of. I hooked this up and ran it for maybe 2 hrs just to try it out, before deciding for sure to get rid of the tank. It hasn't been used since. I got it from Marine Depot for $126, the elbows were $7 for a pkg of 2 and there are 2 unopened pkgs and 1 opened one of these elbows. Asking $100 OBO

    Sun Coral

It is, thank you I sure did my best to take good care of it. Makes me sad to let it go, but I need one with like 3 or 4 polyps for the look I'm going for. About fragging it, I personally couldn't bring myself to do it. It's growing in such a symmetrical way. I'll leave the fragging of it to someone else.

    Sun Coral

It's time for me to pass on my beautiful sun coral colony to a new home. It is getting too large for my tank and I want to find a much smaller colony. I am open to selling it or trading it. I estimate there's at least 80 polyps, probably 1/3 are new small baby ones. I also have a feeding dome and target feeder I made for it I can include. Asking $30 obo, or trade. This is a non-photosynthetic coral and requires 1-2 times weekly feedings.
  23. I have some codium I could give you. That would make great natural hitching for them. Not a grass though, it's a macro. Really easy to care for and doesn't require much light. My horses love it, they're not dwarfs, but still
